Neuroticism is defined by how sensitive, emotional and prone to worry an individual may be. Neuroticism scores range from 10-50. Scores indicating low neuroticism are between 10 and 24, scores indicating moderate neuroticism are between 25 and 35, and scores indicating high neuroticism are between 36 and 50.

In the field of psychology, the five dimensions (the 'Big Five') are commonly used in the research and study of personality. For several decades, these factors have been used to measure, and develop a better understanding of individual differences in personality.

One problem has to do with contradictory answers. The survey has some questions that measure the same thing. For example, "Is systematic, likes to keep things in order" and "Can be somewhat careless" both assess conscientiousness.

INFJ. The INFJ personality type is the undisputed top 1 rarest personality type in the general population coming in at just 2%. INFJs are especially rare among men with only 1% of men qualifying as this personality type. It is slightly more common in women at around 2%.

This test is, together with the Myers Briggs personality test (MBTI test style), DISC assessment and enneagram test, one of the most well known personality tests worldwide.

Yes, it is possible to have a high score in more than one Big Five trait. Each trait is independent of the others, meaning that an individual can score high on openness, extraversion, and conscientiousness, for example, all at the same time. Similarly, an individual can also score low on one trait and high on another.

Openness tends to be normally distributed with a small number of people scoring extremely high or low on the trait, and most people scoring moderately.

It's important to keep in mind that having a high level of neuroticism doesn't make you a bad person. The positive side of the equation is that you are sensitive and aware in a way that some others might not be.

Individuals tend to increase their levels of Neuroticism, especially in young adult life, between 20 and 40 years of age, and older people tend to obtain lower scores (Roberts et al., 2006). Neuroticism declines with age, while Agreeableness and Conscientiousness increase with age (Costa & McCrae (2006).

A more Neurotic person has a less positive but more realistic view of the world. People who score lower in Neuroticism experience negative emotions less frequently, but do not necessarily have increased positive emotions. Instead, less Neurotic people are more relaxed and resistant to stress.

Despite its reputation, however, the Myers-Briggs has poor scientific validity. There is one personality test that is far and away more scientifically valid than any of the others: the “Big Five.”

Big 5 wins hands down on evidenced accuracy - which is why it is used all over science and medicine. Big 5 however is not very useful for individuals and daily life - hence the popularity of Myers-Briggs (MBTI). Big 5 has a scientific origin and scientific evidence of accuracy - Myers-Briggs doesn't.
